All About Katelyn...
Katelyn Manske is an artist whose work is deeply shaped by a personal journey of healing through life’s brokenness. Raised in Wisconsin and now living part-time in Washington, D.C. and the upper Midwest, she earned a B.S. in Mathematics and later a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Alongside her scientific training, Katelyn has studied art continuously—from elementary school through her college years—cultivating a creative foundation that has always run parallel to her academic and professional path. Her upbringing and years working as a physical therapist formed an intersection of science, healing, and service that continues to shape her perspective.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, while working on the front lines of healthcare, Katelyn encountered a profound sense of grief and brokenness. In that darkness, creating art shifted from a quiet pull to a necessity. Turning to art as a means of restoration, she began to process both personal and collective sorrow, embracing imperfection and transformation. Her work reflects this healing journey, translating loss and resilience into creative expression.
Cutting apart, layering and stitching together meaningful, repurposed fabrics is central to the process. Each quilt, wall hanging, or tapestry reflects the beauty in imperfection, mirroring cycles of growth and transformation. Like hands-on healing from her experience as a physical therapist, the tactile nature of her work is essential—textures, stitches, and layers create a multisensory experience.
