As we focus on advocacy for the arts by continuing to support and encourage art by all the various residents and visitors of our area, we sought art from the students of the area high schools from the counties of Ashland, Bayfield and Sawyer. Our plan is to toggle annually between a “student emerging artist year” and “established artist year”.
The response from the high schools of Winter, Hayward, Drummond, Ashland and Washburn was amazing and we had 50 entries! The teachers and students of these schools are doing remarkable work and its a pleasure and honor to be able to display and exhibit the work of these young people. We have chosen 24 to be printed on banners and 3 more were selected as honorable mention. Below is a collage of just 5 of the entries. All the art will be added to this website soon.
On June 5, at the Brick House in Cable, CHARAC will host the Opening Reception. This is your opportunity to meet the artists and greet the sponsors who help to make this entire event happen. Begins at 5 pm and there will be food and fun until 8 pm.
The original art will be prepared for display by the crew of Art Beat of Hayward and then be on display at Art Market 63 from June 6 through August 30. The banners will be displayed for the same period on the light poles of Cable.
You may purchase the original art from Art Market 63. Art not purchased throughout the summer, along with 18 of the banners, will be auctioned off for a 10 day period beginning August 21 to August 30. (6 of the banners have already been purchased by the sponsors.) Then, August 30, at 2 pm we will have the final auction event at Lakewoods Resort where you can get that special banner or art piece!
