Gallery on Main Street
One of the best outdoor shows each summer is in downtown Cable. That’s because the Gallery on Main Street
has taken fine art to the streets. The Cable community will be sporting
beautiful art banners on the light poles around town from Memorial Day through Labor Day. (The picture is "Poppies" by Sara Qualey)
The colorful artwork for these
banners is created by local artists who are members of CHARAC, the Cable
Hayward Area Arts Council. The work includes fiber art, photography,
pencil drawing, watercolors and oil paintings. The 2-page Information and Application brochure for 2012 is available here.
This program is made possible through a partnership of CHARAC, the Cable Area Chamber of Commerce and community sponsors as well as many other key supporters from throughout the Cable community. The original art used to generate the banners will also be displayed in Cable throughout the summer. You can pick up a color brochure at any local business or at the Chambers in both Cable and Hayward for information about the art, the artists and the sponsors.
A special feature of the Gallery on Main Street is that both the banners and the original artwork are available for purchase. The auction bidding opens via our website and continues through the final bids at the end of August 2012.
